For a H4 holder (wife) the excitement and happieness of being in America dies as the time goes on and soon it come upon that what lies ahead is endless boredom.

However there are options to kill time more meaningful ways, several Indian Stores, business seek assistance in return of cash payments,  illeagal but widely in practice.

Few of other better options is to do small tasks such as baby sitting, helping others or community services. If someone has background in arts, painting, teaching, they can utilize these skills taking classess for children. The Indian art teaching is pretty wide-spread activity among H4 holders and works out good for them as it enables them to socialize with others and spend there time doing something constructive.

Other way is to take on some education, learning new skills, tehcnologies. If one has sufficiently good background (like engineering) there are pleanty of consultants who can apply for H1 for them. The training-and-placement consultants do good business in training and then placing such individuals for jobs and it works out good for everyone. (some consultants ask applicants to pay their on H1 expenses though)
