BHOPAL: The Bhopal judicial magistrate court on Saturday issued a warrant against Monica Bedi, directing that she be produced in court on December 5 in connection with the fake passport case, in which she is co-accused along with her companion Abu Salem and his first wife Sameera.

Magistrate D.K. Dangi issued the warrant after Monica Bedi's uncle, Purshottam Lal Bedi, moved an application requesting that bail at any stage be granted only on his or her father's personal security. For, she was not married.  This plea is seen as a move to pre-empt any attempt by Salem's men to secure bail for her. On Friday, a local lawyer filed a bail application. It said she was a puppet in Salem's hands and had no role in acquiring the fake passports here in 2001.
